Giftify is a mobile gift-shopping app designed to help people discover suitable gifts without searching through scattered social media posts.

Gift shopping shouldn't be this difficult
To understand how people in Myanmar discover and purchase gifts, I explored their shopping habits, frustrations, and expectations for a dedicated gift-shopping experience.
The research focused on how users find suitable gifts, compare products, and prepare for special occasions.
Key Insights
Scattered discovery : Irrelevant and outdated social media posts make finding suitable gifts difficult.
Time-consuming search : Without structured search and filtering, comparing products across sellers takes extra effort.
Occasion-based needs : Users expressed interest in early reminders, relevant gift suggestions, and fast delivery.
Local shopping opportunities : Users showed interest in supporting local artisans when prices are reasonable.
The Biggest Friction Happens During Gift Discovery
The research revealed that finding a suitable gift can involve searching through social media, browsing individual seller pages, and comparing products manually.
Without structured categories or reliable search and filtering, users spend extra time finding relevant options instead of making confident purchasing decisions.
This highlighted an opportunity to simplify gift discovery through a more organized shopping experience.
Existing Platforms Provide Products, but Not Organized Discovery
Social media offers access to a wide variety of gifts, but irrelevant or outdated posts can make suitable products difficult to find. Physical stores allow users to inspect product quality, but visiting multiple shops can be time-consuming.
These findings revealed an opportunity to bring gift discovery into one focused experience with clearer product categories and easier search.
Gift Shoppers Need a More Focused Experience
Research findings highlighted several recurring needs:
Less searching: Find relevant products without scrolling through unrelated posts.
Easier comparison: Use search and price filters to narrow down options.
Better timing: Receive occasion reminders three to four days in advance.
Relevant suggestions: Discover gifts suited to specific occasions.
Local discovery: Explore handmade products from local artisans at reasonable prices.
These insights informed the direction of Giftify's shopping experience.

How Might We Make Gift Shopping Easier?
Users often struggle to find suitable gifts because product information is scattered across different sources. Searching, comparing, and preparing for special occasions can become unnecessarily time-consuming.
To address this challenge, I designed Giftify, a mobile gift-shopping experience that organizes products into clear categories and provides search, filtering, wishlist, and cart features.
The goal is to help users spend less time searching and more time finding thoughtful gifts.
Hand-drawn Wireframes
I began with hand-drawn sketches to quickly visualize layout ideas and screen flows. This helped me focus on structure and functionality without getting distracted by colors or fonts.

Mid-Fidelity Wireframes
I then created mid-fidelity wireframes in grayscale. These helped define the layout, hierarchy, and main components of each screen, allowing for early feedback and UX validation.

High-Fidelity Designs
Finally, I developed detailed, full-color UI screens with real content, images, and design components. These high-fidelity mockups represent the final look and feel of the application, ready for developer handoff or user testing.

Browsing Gift Categories
Giftify organizes products into categories such as Bouquets, Romantic, Handmade, and Seasonal Gifts.
This structure gives users a clear starting point and helps them explore relevant products without browsing through unrelated items.
Searching and Discovering Gifts
Search and filtering help users narrow down products according to their needs, including price.
By making relevant options easier to find, Giftify aims to reduce repetitive searching and simplify product discovery.

Reviewing Products and Saving Favorites
Giftify includes wishlist and cart functionality to help users keep track of products they are interested in and items they intend to purchase.
These features support the shopping journey by making it easier to revisit options and organize purchasing decisions.

Keeping Track of Important Occasions
Giftify's calendar helps users keep track of upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
Users can add important dates to their calendar and prepare for upcoming occasions in advance, making it easier to remember when a gift may be needed.
Interactive Prototype
After finalizing the high-fidelity UI designs, I created an interactive prototype using Figma. This prototype simulates real user interactions such as navigating between screens, tapping buttons, and completing common tasks like browsing gifts and checking out.

Mapping Key User Journeys
The user flow connects product discovery with the main shopping actions, helping users move through the experience in a clear and organized way.

Building a Clear Information Architecture
The information architecture organizes Giftify's main content and shopping features into a structure that supports straightforward navigation.
Clear categories and accessible shopping actions help users understand where to explore products and how to manage their selections.
Designing the Visual Language
Giftify uses a light interface, soft and elegant colors, and a clean visual hierarchy to create a warm and approachable shopping experience.
Product imagery takes center stage, while consistent layouts and interface components help users browse and understand the available options.
The visual direction balances emotional appeal with usability, keeping the experience focused on discovering gifts.
Key Learnings

Giftify taught me that a better gift-shopping experience goes beyond offering a wide selection of products. Users need relevant, up-to-date gift options and intuitive search and filtering tools to find the right gift without wasting time navigating disorganized platforms.
I also learned the importance of designing for moments beyond the immediate purchase. By incorporating a calendar and event reminders, Giftify helps users plan ahead and remember important occasions. Research revealed that users preferred reminders 3โ4 days before an event, highlighting how small, timely interactions can make a product more useful in everyday life.
Most importantly, this project strengthened my ability to translate user research into purposeful design decisionsโcreating an experience that simplifies gift discovery, supports better planning, and helps users shop with greater confidence.
